CSR Initiatives
Pacific Fair is a community driven centre and our endeavours to reduce environmental impact through Corporate and Social Responsibilities (CSR) initiatives are notable.
Pacific Fair is truly on the way to reducing the environmental impact through the reduction of electricity, water and waste consumption through its CSR environmental initiatives. Through some excellent initiatives and drive, we have seen dramatic changes in our waste management programs, which have resulted in exceeding the waste diversion target. All general waste is being diverted to the Titree Project, outside of Ipswich, which turns the waste into methane. This is then used to drive the power stations and it is estimated that approx 10,000 homes will be supplied from this source. Electricity and water consumption are also showing signs of consumption reduction with some notable improvements. All the centres electricity is now controlled from a BMS system, which is a computer that optimises the usage of our power.
The centres’ water consumption has been reducing over the past 4 years. This has been achieved by innovative practices such as removing all irrigation from town water and replacing the supply form ground water, the installation of rain water tanks to collect both rain water and ground water so we can irrigate in the evening and thus reduce evaporation. We have just completed modifying some of our cooling towers, to reduce water losses caused by their design.
