Summer Fashion
Monday, September 10th, 2007This summer, fashion sports its true colours at Pacific Fair !
The summer collections have arrived at Pacific Fair, the Gold Coast’s favourite shopping destination. And with over 120 fashion and accessory stores and the Gold Coast’s only Myer department store, Pacific Fair is the only place for ‘fashionistas’ from Brisbane to the Tweed to find inspiration this season.
Drawing inspiration from the fashion runways of Europe, Australian designers have embraced two key fashion themes for Summer 2007/8.
Living in a country where sport is a national obsession, the first of these themes sees sport emerging as a key directional influence that when teamed with edgy urban cool, creates a look that’s best described as ‘Sporty Chic.’
Fabrics are light and cool or ‘sprayed on’ tight. Loosely constructed trousers team with oversize shirts and slung belts. It’s a look that is contrasted against strappy sports bras, cut off tanks and slinky tees. Easy flowing jackets drape rather than cut. Skirts and shorts go cheeky short with looks that are both skin tight or full and floaty. Colour is restrained to greys, stone and earthy hues that take on a sharper edge with bold colour statements in red, yellow or green.
Accessories shimmer with oversize metallic leather bags and height dizzying heels streaked with silver – very Gold Coast! On the other side of the track sneakers go very racy with metallic detail and jewellery is punctuated with gold, silver and bronze medal winning medallions. But it’s the borrowed themes of sports detailing that give a traditionally urban fashion look racier effect. Sport jacket style hoodies add cool to jackets. Lycra leggings are worn under skirts. Zips replace buttons. Toggles scrunch up sleeves and waists!
Ready. Set. Go for ‘Sporty Chic’ at Pacific Fair – head to Country Road, Esprit, Oroton, Peter Alexander and Witchery for the looks that race through the day and keep winning late into the night.
The second look that’s been skirting the edges of the past two summer fashion seasons, finally sees colour explode onto the scene in bold, confident designs that complement Gold Coast tans. From plains to psychadelic patterns, Australian designers have taken yellow, blue, red, purple and green on a techno fantasy ride where classic design is re-charged to life.
Dresses signature this look with strappy backs, bare shoulders, nipped in waists and hems that go very high or low to the floor - utterly feminine lines reminiscent of Hepburn glamour. Jewellery is restrained to one signature piece statement and heels are worn ballet style or elegantly high.
Shorts and skirts are part of this look’s rule book…but it’s all about the cut that takes it into the world of Kylie skimpy and sexy.
Put your sunnies on! Summer fashion is charged with electric colour that dazzles at Bamboo Blonde, Bardot, Gripp Jeans, Kookai, Nine West, Portmans and Sportsgirl, all into ‘Electric Colour’ at Pacific Fair now!
This summer, fashion is signatured by two directional looks that set the scene for one of the hottest summer fashion seasons ever – Sporty Chic and Electric Colour.
These key looks are available from all your favourite Pacific Fair stores, all 120 of them!
