CHOOSE WHO’S WHO OF THE GOLD COAST

People must act fast if they want to have their say in deciding who best symbolises the fun, glamour and lifestyle of the Gold Coast with voting closing tomorrow [SUNDAY] for the Pacific Fair 30 Icons Exhibition.

To celebrate their 30th year on the Gold Coast, Pacific Fair has teamed up with the Gold Coast Bulletin to stage this campaign to identify 30 Icons who have contributed to this wonderful city.

After being chosen by voters, these icons will be immortalised on canvas by 70 artists from the Royal Queensland Art Society. The artworks will be on display at Pacific Fair throughout August during which a public auction will take place with proceeds going to the artists and charity organisation the Create Foundation.

Pacific Fair Retail Marketing Manager Kate Cox said there had already been a terrific response to the campaign with over 1000 people nominating their chosen Icon.

“We are so excited to see the people of the Gold Coast really get behind the Pacific Fair 30 Icons Exhibition,” Ms Cox said.

“It is really rewarding to see the campaign become such a hot topic around the coast.”

Ms Cox said some people had raised the question of how the list was compiled and why certain names had not appear in the original list of 60 people.

“We are grateful for the feedback and we wish that we could include so many other prominent identities on the list,” she said. “In a lot of cases the names were originally on the list but the identity did not wish to take part in the process and we respect their decision.

“At the end of the day we could have come up with over a hundred names, however, a list that long was simply not viable so we had to narrow it down to a list of 60. I can assure everyone that we had great difficulty in deciding who would remain on the list and have the chance to go down in history as a Gold Coast Icon.”

The voting closes tomorrow [SUNDAY] at 3pm. To vote go to www.goldcoast.com.au.
