Choclicious’s new take on Easter Eggs is proving popular this festive season with people queuing at their Pacific Fair store to purchase orange, green and purple coloured confectionary.
Award-winning chocolatier Leon Bos and his wife Lynda are the people behind the Choclicious creations at Pacific Fair, stocking confectionary Leon creates himself at their Beenleigh workshop.
This year the chocolate-loving couple are expecting their chocolate coloured Easter eggs will separate Choclicious apart from its competitors.
“What we do, which is most unusual, is add a bit of colour to our chocolates,” Lynda said.
“Coming up with new ideas, like this, is our favourite part of the process.
“Another treat is that we put our own chocolates and truffles inside the eggs. We also custom make eggs with people’s names, if they like.”
Pacific Fair marketing manager Kate Cox said Choclicious did a wonderful job of boosting the festive spirit in the centre.
“We are very proud to have a boutique chocolate shop like Choclicious bringing the festive spirit of Easter to life through their amazing confectionary creations,” Ms Cox said.
“It is great to see Choclicious become such a popular destination among shoppers, particularly as all their high quality chocolates are made locally.”
Leon said the chocolate best suited for confectionary making was very smooth.
“It also makes for better confectionary if the chocolate originated from a high quality cacao bean, has fermented for at least eight days during the chocolate-making process and, most importantly, it has a high cocoa content,” he said.
“It also helps if the product is shiny in texture.”
Leon made a name for himself on the national stage when he took out the Gold Award for the Choclicious Assorted Box of 24 Chocolates and seven silver medals at the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year.
The Gold Coast couple have been in the chocolate-making industry for two years with the doors to Choclicious opening in November 2005.
They couldn’t be happier with their chosen career.
“Chocolate makes everybody happy. Everybody who comes into the shop comes in with a smile on their face,” Lynda said.
“Chocolate is an awesome product and you can do so much with it.”
