BLAZE BASKETBALLERS SHARE SKILLS AT PACIFIC FAIR

The basketball stars of tomorrow will be lining up at Pacific Fair this month to take tips from their heroes – the Gold Coast Blaze.

Adding a touch of sport to the jam-packed GC Bazaar festival schedule, will be the Gold Coast Blaze Know the Game Love the Game Basketball Clinics where players will be sharing their skills over the course of two weekends.

A host of star Blaze players will be taking the budding basketballers through the same skills the players use for warm-ups and organising fun games with the aim of helping them develop and enhance their ball skills.

Every child registered for the clinics will also receive a free Blaze pack, which includes a Know the Game Love the Game Blaze t-shirt and water bottle, a temporary tattoo of mascot Burnie Blaze and a mini basketball.

Blaze General Manager Troy Bingham said this month’s sporting sessions would mark the first rollout of their brand new Know the Game Love the Game clinics.

“We held similar clinics during our first season and received a fantastic response from the Gold Coast community,” Mr Bingham said.

“During these upcoming clinics our NBL stars will teach kids the skills they learnt when they were young, the skills which put them on the path to playing for the Blaze.

“Through the Know the Game Love the Game clinics we are aiming to give children on the Gold Coast every opportunity to know more about the game through interaction and participation. Hopefully this will translate into more kids playing basketball with clubs and friends and then one day potentially playing for the Blaze,” he said.

Pacific Fair Retail Marketing Manager Kate Cox said the event was aimed at providing entertainment for kids and involving them in all the fun and festivities of GC Bazaar.

“We are delighted to have an event that really engages the younger crowds,” Ms Cox said.

“This is a great opportunity for those who have already taken a liking to the game to hone their skills or alternatively, allow those who have never played basketball to have a go at the game.

“On a personal note it will add a real buzz to Pacific Fair to have such amazing sporting heroes in centre offering support and encouragement to what could be the Blaze players of the future.”

The Gold Coast Blaze Know the Game Love the Game basketball clinics will be at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre on 21, 22, 28, and 29 June with hour-long clinics running from 10am to 2pm. To register for the basketball clinics call the Blaze office on 1300 BLAZE GC (1300 252 934) or 07 5527 5427. Registrations close on Wednesday 18 June.

During GC Bazaar Pacific Fair will also be hosting the Apex Australian Teenage Fashion Awards on Saturday 14 June and Pacific Fair Shopping Tours every Saturday through June.
